Natural henna comes from the leaves of Lawsonia inermis. The leaves are dried and ground into powder, then prepared as a paste that temporarily stains the outer layers of the skin.

Henna has long traditions across South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and other communities. Its meanings and practices vary, but weddings, festivals, family celebrations and personal adornment are part of its rich story. We celebrate these living traditions without assigning henna exclusively to one modern country.

From fresh orange to rich brown

Your design is not at its final color when the paste comes off. Fresh henna usually appears orange or light at first, then develops through oxidation over approximately 24–48 hours into richer reddish-brown or brown tones. Every stain is a little different.

Why does my henna stain differ?

Placement, skin characteristics, warmth, paste contact time and aftercare all influence the result. Palms, fingers and soles generally develop especially strong stains because of the characteristics of their thicker outer skin; arms and other areas may look lighter. Comfortable warmth can help development, but hotter is not better and results are never guaranteed.

Early water exposure, frequent washing, soaking and exfoliation can affect the stain and how quickly it fades. Henna by Divyy cannot guarantee identical stain color on every client or every body location.
